I actually connect my Nav 5 to my Mac when planning routes - and I plan a lot! - and use the map on the Nav 5 to plan - no problems with transferring routes to and fro because I am using the Nav 5's map. Basecamp again needs some time to get the most out of - its not a plug and play program - but it is very good at what it does - again, read the manual if you want to avoid the common pitfalls and problems that get posted on here on a regular basis.
I have had my GSA and Nav 5 since May and have found the Nav 5 and the bikes interface superb - you just have to get to know the manual - which takes time and use of the Nav 5 to consolidate - there are facilities available on the Nav 5 that you didn't know you needed I admit but most are useful and the Wheel makes accessing them simple and safe.

I really dont understand the problem - rather than simply connect your Nav 5 to the PC or Mac you want to transfer the file to your phone and then transfer it again to the Nav 5 - simply to save the effort of taking off the mount? Seems like a labour not worth the effort to me.
